Eines der exklusivsten und teuersten Hotels Marokkos in einer ehemaligen Residenz aus der Mitte des 20. Jh. Die Zimmer befinden sich in Bungalows, die verstreut im großen Park liegen.
HISTORY
In the years following the Second World War, the original owner of the land conceived and created, over a period of nearly ten years, a hotel with extensive grounds which finally opened, as La Gazelle d'Or, in April 1961. At that time, there were just twenty guests cottages still numbered 1- 20. The central clubhouse with its dining-room and bar, a small swimming-pool, a little farm, and some young orange trees. After dinner, guests were escorted to their rooms in the dark by staff with oil lanterns, and telephone calls tended to come through a day or two after the caller had left. But La Gazelle d'Or became known to insiders as a sort of private club,
where they could rely upon convivial company, interesting food and a clement climate. The original owner died in 1972, and his widow decided to relinquish their unique creation in 1974: a local management partnership bought the property.
The current owner of La Gazelle d'Or came to stay for one night in 1981. Despite its sadly run-down state, she fell in love immediately with the place, realising it wonderful potential, exotic appeal and intimate ambiance, and was able eventually to purchase the estate. Then followed two decades of labour and creativity devoted to recapturing the spirit, and restoring the structure and fabric, of the hotel.
In 1985, cottages containing a further ten rooms (including two suites) were added,
together with new dining-room, card room, library, stables, tennis courts, enlarged pool, hammam (traditional steam bath) and massage rooms, etc. Further refurbishment takes place every year when the hotel closes for the summer,
and particular attention is paid to the gardens and grounds. The hotel farm is now entirely free of chemical additives and processes, so all the fruits, vegetables, herbs, milk and other dairy products, delivered fresh every day, are 100% organic and biodynamic .
La Gazelle d'Or does not attempt to present an image or make a statement. Our aim is passively to provide guests with the quiet comfort and discreet service that will enable them to relax and draw from these special surroundings their own individual pleasure time and time again...

Meals
BREAKFAST
Please see the room service booklet for all information. Dial 5 to order the breakfast of your choice. Breakfast can be served on your terrace or in your room from 6.30 am to 1pm. If you wish to have breakfast earlier than 6.30am, please let us know the day before
LUNCH
Lunch is served as a buffet beside the pool from 1pm. There is a wide selection of fresh salads, cold meats and fish, as well as some hot tajines, meat/fish grilled to order, fresh fruit salad and various desserts. If you would like a lighter lunch, please choose a table in the restaurant or on the main terrace, or have something served in your room. Picnics can be prepared, in place of lunch, for those going out on an excursion. Please order in plenty of time before you intend to leave.
DINNER
Dinner is served from 8pm in the dining-room, or, when the weather is warm enough, on the main terrace. Your table will be automatically booked. Come earlier, and relax in the bar with an aperitif as you study the menu. The circular (original) section of the dining-room is intended to evoke the feeling of a Berber tent, and is decorated with panels inspired by motifs found to this day in authentic old buildings up in the Atlas Mountains. Our menus, which change daily, offer a choice of traditional Moroccan dishes and international fare. Our Chef will be delighted to create special menus on request (for example vegetarian, gluten-free).
Classic local dishes such as couscous, méchoui, pastilla will usually be on the menu one day a week. If you would like to order any of these, or any other special dishes,
for a particular occasion when they are not offered on the menu, please place your order with the head waiter d'hôtel, if possible the day before.
BARS
The main bar is open from 10am until the last guest leaves. In addition to aperitifs and digestifs, morning coffee and afternoon tea (served with biscuits) are available.
The pool bar is open from 10 am until the sunset. Try one of our healthy organic fruit or vegetable juices. You may have your drinks served in your room, where you also have a mini bar at your disposal.
Extra ice, olives, crisps, etc. can be ordered with your drinks
COMMUNICATIONS
TELEPHONE
You can call anywhere in the world from the telephone in your room: Dial '0' for the outside line (a steady tone means you have obtained an outside line ; if you get the engaged tone, all lines are busy : hang up and try again). For international calls, obtain an outside line as above, then dial '00' and then the country code (e.g. '44' for UK, '33' for France, '1' for USA), the area code (e.g. '20' for London, '1' for Paris, '212' for New York) and finally the correspondent's number. You may hear nothing for up to a minute before the number called starts to ring. For calls within Morocco, obtain an outside line as above, then dial the three-figure area code (e.g.'022' for Casablanca, '037' for Rabat) and the correspondent's six-figure number. The number will usually start to ring almost immediately. Please note that calls within the same area still need to be prefixed by the area code. We are in area '028' , which covers Agadir and the rest of the country to the south: To call a number within this area, dial '028' then the correspondent's six-figure number. If you have any problems, or require further information, please call Switchboard on '9' or Reception on '4'.
INTERNET ACCESS/E-MAIL
We have dedicated one of our administrative offices for the use of guests wishing to send/receive e-mail and/or access the Internet. Ask Reception for availability and details.
PORTABLE TELEPHONES
In accordance with the general consensus of opinions amongst our guests, you are kindly requested not to use your portable, for either incoming or outgoing calls, in the shared areas of the hotel (in particular, the swimming-pool and dining-room).

SWIMMING POOL
Open throughout the year and heated in winter. Loungers and towels are available pool-side.
TENNIS
There are two clay courts. Our coach pro is available. Racquets and balls may be hired.
monitor 150 Dhs/H, raquette 100 Dhs/Person, balls 50 Dhs. Court max. use 1 hour.
GOLF (150 Dh for half day)
We have one par-3hole (which we call the 18th) for practice. Clubs and balls may be hired. The nearest full-size golf courses are in Agadir.
HORSE RIDING (230 Dh per hour)
Our groom accompanies guests on riding outings.
CROQUET (free of charge)
Ask Reception to have the equipment laid out. Rule-book (perhaps fortunately!) is not available.
GAMES-VIDEOS-BOOKS (free of charge)
Television, books and games are in the library. Videos are available from reception. Donations (or fair exchange) of books welcome

GYM
While we are waiting for our Spa to be built, we have a temporary exercise room situated opposite reception. If you wish to use the gym, kindly ask at Reception.
MISCELLANEOUS
ELECTRICITY
The supply in Morocco is 220 V. In the event of a power-cut, our own generator will come into operation: please be patient (and careful) during the minute or so that this takes.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
There are many good chemists, staffed by qualified pharmacists, in Taroudannt. If they do not stock the same brand-name medication that you are used to, they can almost always supply the exact equivalent. There is also a chemist open throughout the night. If required, we can call one of our panel of doctors at any time.
MONEY EXCHANGE
Our cashier can change bank notes, travellers cheques and Eurocheques into Dirhams at the official exchange rate (the same as in the banks). Make sure you do not leave yourself with too many Dirhams at the end of your stay as they cannot be taken out of the country. We are unable to make cash advances against credit cards: most banks in town, however, offer this service some from automatic cash dispenser.
LAUNDRY
Please use the laundry bag in your room for handing in articles. Laundry handed in the morning will be returned the same day. We can arrange to send articles for dry-cleaning into the town: They will normally be returned within 24 hours. We regret that we cannot accept responsibility for dry-cleaning.
NEWSPAPERS
Moroccan papers (in French and Arabic) are available in town on the day of issue. Other papers are not so easy to obtain, but do not hesitate to ask Reception to try.
FIREPLACE
The fireplaces are not just decorative: they are meant to be used. Call Reception if you need more wood, or assistance in lighting your fire.
